Job Description
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work as a Nurse Specialist in Critical Care at Vancouver General Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill clients with unpredictable outcomes attached to life-support equipment, both independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and manage critical and life-threatening situations, demonstrating expertise and leadership in nursing practice.
  • Develop and implement plans of care, collaborating with other healthcare professionals to enhance quality of life from the client's perspective.
  • Enhance patient safety by responding promptly and effectively to emergencies, utilizing your skills in CPR techniques and critical care monitoring equipment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you must possess a strong background in nursing theory and practice within a client-centered model of care. You should have a thorough knowledge of the indications, actions, reactions, routes, dosages, and side effects of drugs used in critical care environments. Additionally, you should be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, both with clients and their families and with other healthcare staff. Experience working in a critical care environment and completion of a recognized critical care nursing program are highly desirable.

Estimated Salary Range:
CAD $41 - CAD $55 per hour (based on national averages for Registered Nurses in British Columbia).
