About the Opportunity

Black & McDonald's Southern Ontario team is expanding. We are seeking a committed and collaborative professional to contribute to our hard-working, innovative team.

The Financial Services Professional will be responsible for managing accounts receivable operations, including collection efforts, customer communication, and financial record-keeping. This role reports directly to the Regional Controller and is based in Scarborough.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Instituting effective collection strategies by communicating with customers via phone, email, or regular mail
  • Maintaining detailed records of customer/collections activity for follow-up purposes
  • Investigating and resolving customer inquiries with confidentiality and in a timely manner
  • Receiving customer payments and preparing bank deposits daily, as required
  • Posting deposits to the accounting system
  • Processing customer Visa payment transactions and sending approval confirmations to customers
  • Printing and distributing customer statements as required
  • Collaborating daily with Billing Administrators, Controller, Project Managers on collection issues/progress
  • Submitting requests for customer/vendor credit checks to credit bureaus
  • Completing customer direct deposit forms and sending them back to customers as needed
  • Preparing weekly/monthly/quarterly reports as required
  • On occasion, visiting the bank for deposits
  • Liaising biweekly or monthly with operational groups for A/R review calls on problem accounts

Key Competencies

We seek an individual with strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, who is also able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. A post-secondary education is preferred, and 5+ years of experience in accounts receivable/collections in a B2B setting is required.
