Job Title: Sawmill Machine Operator

We are seeking a skilled Sawmill Machine Operator to join our team at Swiftwood Forest Products. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our sawmill equipment to ensure efficient and safe production of high-quality lumber.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Examine logs and rough lumber to determine the best cutting plan
  • Operate automated lumbermill equipment from control rooms or consoles
  • Saw, trim, and plane rough lumber into dressed lumber of various sizes
  • Start conveyor systems to move logs and lumber to and from saws
  • Monitor logs and lumber movement to ensure cuts are made according to specifications
  • Set up and adjust saw equipment
  • Replace blades or bands
  • Clean and lubricate sawmill equipment
Requirements:
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a sawmill or woodworking environment
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Manual dexterity, attention to detail, and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production targets
