Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Student Support Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a Casual Social Worker, you will have the opportunity to work temporary full-time hours, stepping in for staff members during short-term absences.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing direct social work services to students in Elementary and Secondary schools or alternate programs;
  • Collaborating with a team of school and system-based professionals to ensure continuous support for our students;
  • Consulting with schools on behavioral management, social-emotional issues, and social skills development to enhance academic success;

You will also be responsible for assessing safety risk and developing support plans collaboratively with the student, family, and school. Additionally, you will provide immediate accessible professional counseling services to high-needs students and/or their families in the school.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Master's Degree in Social Work (M.S.W.)
  • Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (R.S.W.)
  • Minimum 5 years related experience in a community or educational setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
