Job Summary

We are seeking qualified Elementary Occasional Teachers who can provide high-quality educational support to our students. As an occasional teacher, you will have the opportunity to work in various schools throughout the Niagara region, gaining valuable teaching experience and contributing to the success of our students.

Schedule and Compensation

This position offers a competitive daily rate of pay, with opportunities for long-term assignments or contract positions. You will work on an as-needed basis, typically 10 months per year (September to June).

About the Role

As an Elementary Occasional Teacher, your primary responsibility will be to provide instructional support to students in grades JK to 8. You will work closely with classroom teachers, school administrators, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive learning environment.

You will be expected to:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of individual students or small groups;
  • Assist classroom teachers with instructional tasks, such as preparing materials, leading small-group activities, and supporting students with special needs;
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress and concerns;
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and programs;
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Be a qualified teacher with good standing from the Ontario College of Teachers;
  • Demonstrate a passion for teaching and a commitment to student success;
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Meet the requirements of the Collective Agreement and adhere to the Board's policies and procedures;
