About the Role:

At Strum Consulting, we are seeking a highly skilled Professional Land Surveyor/Engineer to join our Surveying Division in our Antigonish or Halifax office.

The ideal candidate will have both technical and communication skills, a positive attitude, good interpersonal skills, and strong organizational and communication skills. As a Professional Land Surveyor, you will support the Surveying Division by performing legal boundary retracement and subdivision surveys across the province.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Adhere to Strum's health and safety program and ensure safety procedures and protocols are followed.
  2. Evaluate and resolve boundary solutions
  3. Prepare detailed survey approach and calculations on assigned projects
  4. Identify and undertake required surveying research
  5. Translate / process field data
  6. Complete detailed drawings
  7. Coordinate and direct AutoCAD drawing preparation
  8. Review milestone and final drawings
  9. Attend meetings with contractors, regulatory agencies, and clients
  10. Manage projects, administer contracts, and control budgets
  11. Present concepts to clients and manage small to medium size projects
  12. Develop increasing competency with design programs, Word and Excel, through continuing education, training, information sharing with other employees and self-directed study.

Requirements:

  • A degree, technical diploma or equivalent training and experience.
  • Strong academic record is an asset.
  • Registered (or eligible for registration) as a Professional Nova Scotia Land Surveyor
  • 2-years minimum experience in legal land surveying
  • Knowledgeable in the statutes, regulations, and practices of the Nova Scotia Land Surveyors Act, Municipal Government Act, Land Titles Act, Public Lands Act, and Surveys Act
  • Familiar with, and proficiency in, the operation of survey equipment such as the Total Station/Data Collector, and various Global Positioning System (GPS) methods
  • Demonstrate strong technical, documentation, and organizational skills
  • Comfortable meeting with clients and exploring new business opportunities

  • Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • A valid Nova Scotia Divers License is required.
