Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Gas System Capacity Planner to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our Distribution Operations team, you will be responsible for preparing capital plans for distribution assets, including transmission pressure laterals, stations, and distribution piping.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain long-term demand forecasts and allocate gas load growth to areas.
  • Track actual against forecast demand growth and identify any variance.
  • Identify system capacity shortfalls and develop long-term capital improvement alternatives.
  • Perform hydraulic analyses and cost-of-service analyses to identify the long-term least cost of service options.
  • Document long-term capital improvement recommendations and develop detailed 5-year capital plans and budgets.

Requirements

  • Completion of an Applied Sciences Technologist and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC) recognized post-secondary technologist diploma program in gas and petroleum, civil, mechanical, or related technology.
  • Certified at the technologist level by the ASTTBC.
  • Minimum of two (2) years directly related work experience in System Capacity Planning.
  • Full understanding of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics properties and behaviors of natural gas and other related organic hydrocarbon products.
