Family Medicine Physician

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Family Medicine Physician to join their team of healthcare professionals. As a key member of the Annapolis Collaborative Practice, you will work collaboratively with a team of five family physicians, a resident, a family practice nurse, nurse practitioner, dietician, and social worker to provide patient care, Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) coverage, and 6-bed inpatient rota at the Annapolis Community Health Centre (ACHC).
As a Family Medicine Physician, you will be responsible for covering the urgent "duty doctor" days in the primary care side, providing comprehensive family practice, teaching residents as part of the Valley Site of Dalhousie Family Medicine, covering UTC, and covering 6 inpatient beds and palliative care beds.
You will have the opportunity to work in areas of personal interest outside of the clinic, such as nursing homes, leadership, hospitalist, surgery assists, etc. Compensation is a group Alternate Payment Plan under the CEC model.
Responsibilities- Ensure the delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness.
- Be accountable for appropriate workload and practice.
- Continuum of patient care with healthcare providers within your practice and/or community.
- Provide care and coordination of community-based care, secondary, and tertiary level healthcare.
- Build to capacity within the first two years (new primary care providers).
- Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority.
- Work toward same-day or next-day access for the practice population.
- Work in collaboration with other team members in the practice to best suit the community's health needs.
- Work with other providers to provide after-hours access and emergency coverage when required.
- Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities.
- Utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR which is accessible to all collaborating team members.

- All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
- All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
- Experience working in an emergency department is an asset.
- Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).
- Advanced trauma life support (ATLS).
- Basic life support (BLS).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
