Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Systems Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions for our packaging operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops plans for testing and debugging automation equipment, applying knowledge of engineering technology as necessary.
- Programs, troubleshoots, and evaluates design considerations on new and existing systems and equipment.
- Designs engineering solutions that meet the manufacturing facilities' requirements, while monitoring budget constraints to maximize production equipment quality and efficiency.
- Assists in the preparation of project scope, cost justification, and AFE (overall cost proposal) for senior management approval.
- Maintains awareness of and controls project cost, quality, scope, and schedule to ensure on-time delivery of projects within internal budgets.
- Prepares progress reports for management.
- Leads or participates in engineering design reviews as required.
- Conducts R&D activities concerned with integration and testing of electronic/mechanical components and systems.
- Applies mechanical theory, mechanical testing procedures, and related knowledge to layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production equipment.
- Works with the maintenance department to ensure preventative and predictive maintenance compliance.
- Programs software to configure and/or make modifications to automated systems and process control systems.
- Provides status reports of progress for various BWAY management members.
- Evaluates, selects, and coordinates with outside vendors for the design, machining, and fabrication of tooling and systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or a minimum of 7 years equivalent experience.
- Experience with hydraulics, robotics, electrical systems, automation.
- Experience with stamping, welding, and palletizing a plus.
- Strong MS Office, Visio, Inventor, Auto Cad, RSLogix 500 or 5000 skills.
- Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC, industrial sensors, and pneumatic systems.
- Excellent analytical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication skills.
