Role Summary:
The Automation Engineer will collaborate within a team to ensure the efficient operation, upkeep, and repair of both new and existing machinery. This position involves planning preventive or predictive maintenance and resolving any operational downtimes.
The ideal candidate will support the afternoon shift team at Media Resources and oversee the implementation and maintenance of automated systems within the module plant to enhance productivity and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize technical expertise to develop and execute production processes, adjust machine controls, and manage inventory and quality assurance protocols.
- Oversee, assess, and inspect mechanical installations and machinery operations.
- Conduct various mechanical tests and analyses on machines, components, and materials, while supervising maintenance programs or mechanical equipment operations.
- Disassemble malfunctioning units and repair or replace defective parts.
- Propose modifications to enhance existing equipment, including safety improvements.
- Assist in the preparation of designs, drawings, and specifications.
- Employ computer-aided design (CAD) tools.
- Interpret blueprints and other instructions to ascertain work requirements and plan operational sequences.
- Prepare and analyze engineering designs, drawings, and specifications.
- Solder and manually assemble diverse electronic components on printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Support the preparation of estimates, schedules, specifications, and reports.
- Complete work orders and maintenance reports.
- Gather and compile operational or experimental data.
- Conduct work measurement and other analytical studies.
- Set up and operate specialized and standard testing equipment to diagnose, test, and evaluate the performance of electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of equipment.
- Develop and implement health, safety, and fire prevention strategies.
- Facilitate safety training programs as necessary.
- Collect and analyze data and samples to support quality assurance and industrial health and safety initiatives.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a completed program in electrical or mechanical technology.
- BSc/BA in safety management or a related field.
- Occupational Health and Safety Diploma, certificate program, or relevant professional designation (ASP/CSP) is advantageous.
Professional Experience:
- Diploma in Mechanical, Electronics, or Instrumentation Technology.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities and proficiency in interpreting complex Mechanical/Electrical Plans, manuals, and programming logic to resolve various service challenges.
Essential Competencies:
- Experience in a comparable industry is beneficial.
- Ability to work autonomously or with minimal oversight.
- Familiarity with electronic testing equipment and systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of industrial processes.
- Experience with soldering equipment and electronic controls.
