Verafin, a leading innovator in anti-financial crime management solutions, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer to join its Application Platform team in St. John's or Toronto.

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional technologist who can design, develop, and deliver high-quality solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. As a Senior Software Developer on our Application Platform team, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable and efficient API solutions.

You will have the opportunity to bring your expertise and creativity to bear on challenging problems, working closely with product owners and developers to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement. Your contributions will help Verafin to continue making a positive difference in the world, fighting crimes such as human trafficking, elder abuse, and drug trafficking.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with your team to deliver project requirements, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks
  • Design and develop UI, Microservices, and Data Models for our services, using industry-standard tools and best practices
  • Evaluate and optimize the performance, security, and quality of developed APIs
  • Mentor and coach junior team members, providing guidance and support to help them grow and develop their skills
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring that all code meets the highest standards of quality and maintainability
Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A university degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in software development, preferably in a similar role
  • Familiarity with API authentication protocols, including JWT and OAuth
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, such as API Gateway, ECS, Lambda, Fargate, and others
  • Knowledge of microservice architecture and experience building scalable, highly available systems
  • Strong understanding of encryption and message signing using industry-standard practices
  • Experience with RESTful API design principles and API documentation tools
  • Fundamental knowledge of software and system design principles, including object-oriented programming and automated testing
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to learn and adapt quickly
Salary Information

The estimated salary range for this position is between $120,000 and $160,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, permanent position, offering a competitive benefits package and opportunities for growth and development.
