The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Developmental Service Worker to join our team in Toronto, ON. As a key member of our transitional aged youth (TAY) home team, you will play a vital role in supporting the transition of young adults with developmental disabilities from the child welfare system into independent living.

Job Description

This part-time position requires 20 hours per week, with overnight shifts. You will be responsible for:

- Locating programs, services, housing, and employment opportunities that align with individual goal plans;

- Coordinating and providing direct support in the implementation of goals, monitoring achievements, and outcomes;

- Working effectively with other TAY staff to develop strategies and implement therapeutic programming;

- Ensuring the safety and security of the house, individuals, and staff;

- Maintaining accurate documentation, monitoring finances, and reporting on program outcomes;

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

- A post-secondary school diploma/degree in Social Services or Developmental Services, or a secondary school diploma with at least one year of experience in Developmental Services;

- Valid First Aid and Safe Management certifications;

- Strong knowledge of computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook;

- Minimum of one year recent work-related experience in working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis, supporting youth involved in the child welfare system, and applying a trauma-informed and harm reduction approach;

- Experience engaging with diverse populations and an ability to apply a culturally responsive lens to all interactions;
