Operating Room Licensed Practical Nurse

Fraser Health Authority is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in the operating room. As a key member of our surgical team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support during complex surgical interventions.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document patient care during pre-operative, operative, and post-operative periods.
- Perform scrub duties, admission of patients to the OR, and circulating duties in collaboration with the peri-operative team and the RN coordinating care in the O.R.
- Assist the RN coordinating care in the operating room and perform duties that support the primary circulating RN.
- Alert the RN to any problems, changes, or unusual signs or symptoms of the patient while in the operating room setting.
- Document observations, treatment, and other patient care activities during the pre, intra, and post-operative periods.
- Attend meetings, such as staff meetings and quality improvement rounds, to provide and obtain information and feedback about patients and patient care.
- Assist with the orientation of new staff by demonstrating work procedures.
- Attend educational sessions, in-services, and workshops as required to facilitate knowledge enhancement and technology changes.
- Perform related clerical duties, such as answering the telephone, taking and relaying messages, and assisting in maintaining standardized records.
Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses with the full range of current licensed practical nursing competencies, and graduation from an accredited O.R. program for Licensed Practical Nurses plus one (1) year recent related experience working as a Licensed Practical Nurse in acute care, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and current basic cardiac life support certification.
