About the Role

We're seeking an Oncology Nurse Specialist to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you'll be responsible for providing expert care to patients with oncology-related conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and treat previously undiagnosed clients for undifferentiated diseases, illnesses, and conditions within the scope of practice; order appropriate screening diagnostic investigations; interpret reports of investigations and analyze information to monitor progress and plan treatment.
  • Establish priorities for management of health conditions; provide follow-up treatment; communicate with clients and families about health findings, diagnose, and prognose; support and counsel clients in their personal responses to diseases, disorders, and conditions.
  • Collaborate and/or consult with physicians or other healthcare and social service providers as appropriate to assess and diagnose client status. Accept referrals from, or make referrals to, physicians and other health professionals.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • To be eligible to complete the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) through the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
  • A minimum of 4 years of recent, relevant clinical nursing experience.
  • The ability to perform the full scope of Nurse Practitioner duties and responsibilities.

Estimated salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, based on location and experience.
