We are seeking a seasoned technical professional with strong software engineering and leadership skills to join our team as a Software Development Manager. As a key member of our Fulfillment Technologies organization, you will be responsible for managing a team of software development engineers who design, build, and operate innovative picking software that powers Amazon's global fulfillment network.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the overall software development life cycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
- Lead a team of software engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and coaching to help them grow and develop their skills.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and quality assurance, to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Develop and implement engineering best practices, such as coding standards, code reviews, and testing, to ensure the quality and reliability of our software solutions.
- Partner with senior leadership to drive business outcomes, including improving customer satisfaction, reducing costs, and increasing efficiency.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging experimentation, learning, and innovation within the team.
- Recruit, hire, and develop top talent, building a strong and diverse team that reflects the best of Amazon's values and culture.
- 3+ years of experience in engineering team management, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions.
- 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams, with a strong understanding of software development life cycles, coding standards, and testing methodologies.
- 3+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
- 8+ years of experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services, with a strong understanding of software engineering practices and patterns.
- Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
- Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing teams of software engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers.
