About the Role

We are seeking a talented technical professional to join our Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) team as a Software Development Manager. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a team of software development engineers, partnering with other managers to design, build, and operate innovative picking software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the overall software development life-cycle
  • Lead a team of software engineers to architect and develop technical designs and approaches
  • Report on the status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management
  • Foster a culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics
  • Hire, coach, and mentor individuals to build a strong cross-functional organization
  • Work closely with engineers to develop proprietary solutions end-to-end
  • Own all operational metrics and support
  • Drive a better customer experience through innovative ideas and technical designs
About the Team

AFT powers Amazon's global fulfillment network, inventing and delivering software, hardware, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. Our Outbound Flow team pairs data science with innovative technologies to optimize throughput within every Amazon fulfillment center.

Requirements
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life-cycle
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
