About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in the provision of safe and effective patient care, working closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the accurate preparation and dispensing of medications.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing, packaging, and dispensing medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist
  • Compounding of sterile and non-sterile dosage forms
  • Dispensing drugs to inpatients and outpatients in unit dose
  • Working with automation and inventory control systems
  • Participating in quality programs and patient safety initiatives

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in pharmacy practice, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A graduate degree in pharmacy technology or a related field
  • Licensure and registration in Nova Scotia as a Pharmacy Technician (NSCP)
  • Experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy practice assistant, preferably in a hospital setting
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and special precautions used with chemotherapy
  • Basic life support certification
