About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team at the Halifax Infirmary. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in the provision of safe and effective patient care, working closely with our pharmacy team to prepare, package, and dispense medications.

Responsibilities will include compounding of sterile and non-sterile dosage forms, dispensing drugs to inpatients and outpatients, and participating in quality programs and patient safety initiatives. You will also have the opportunity to work with automation technology and decentralized medication dispensing cabinets.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in pharmacy practice, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. About You

We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in pharmacy practice, including experience with sterile technique and special precautions used with chemotherapy. You will also need to have knowledge of medical terminology, inventory control, and record keeping.

Additional requirements include a graduate degree from an accredited pharmacy technician program, licensure and registration in Nova Scotia as a Pharmacy Technician, and a valid Drug Administration by Injection technical permit. Experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy practice assistant is an asset.

Hours and Compensation

This is a long-assignment, full-time position with a 75-hour bi-weekly schedule. The hourly rate for this position is $24.96 - $27.89, with the possibility of benefits and a defined benefit pension plan.
