Anesthesiologist Position

Island Health is seeking a full-time Anesthesiologist to join their team at the Comox Valley Hospital, a new bed community hospital with state-of-the-art facilities.
The successful candidate will provide anesthesia services for various specialties, including Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, and Orthopaedics. Additionally, they will assist with emergency intubations in the ER and ICU, and run a consultation clinic and out-of-OR position designated as Rover.
The Anesthesiologist will be required to participate in a 24-hour call rotation, with mandatory on-site coverage during certain periods. Recent pediatric and obstetrical experience is preferred, or a plan to update these skills within six months.
Shortlisted applicants will be required to spend a minimum of one week with the department as a locum, with the possibility of a longer locum period. Following the locum, each candidate will undergo a thorough degree assessment. Candidates who meet the criteria and have a successful locum will be offered an interview.

- May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidy agreement (RSA), including a Recruitment Incentive, Relocation Allowance, Fee Premium, Annual Flat Fee, and CME payments.
