About the Role

Modern Niagara is seeking a highly skilled Finance Manager to join our team in Calgary. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all daily accounting processes to ensure they are carried out efficiently, effectively, and within established timelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Manage the financial planning and analysis process, providing leadership and promoting adherence to Modern Niagara's core values.
  • Monthly Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for Modern Niagara Calgary construction divisions, identifying opportunities to streamline the reporting package or add reports that will help the Executive Team achieve the Company's financial goals more effectively.
  • Work-in-Process (WIP) Management: Monitor WIP reports and work with the Senior Director of Finance and Operations Managers to ensure billing targets are met or exceeded.
  • Accounts Receivable Management: Promote and support communication between AP, AR, and Project Managers to ensure contract and invoicing issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Financial Performance Monitoring: Work with Project Managers and Project Coordinators to ensure billing breakdowns are established for each contract in a manner to provide maximum financing advantage.
  • Cash Forecasting and Management: Maintain and monitor Company's cash forecasts, ensuring cash resources are optimized and Company liquidity is maintained at all times.
  • Internal Controls and Process Improvement: Evaluate internal controls and identify areas for improvement, seeking efficiencies in financial transaction processing and reporting.
  • Special Projects and Analysis: Complete special projects and analysis on an ad-hoc basis, as assigned.
Requirements
  • Professional Accounting Designation: Professional accounting designation required (CPA). An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered for the right candidate.
  • Financial Management Experience: Minimum of 5 years of financial management or controllership experience.
  • Construction Industry Experience: Experience in the construction industry a definite asset.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Ability and willingness to lead people, with strong communication skills and a team player attitude.
  • Strategic Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills: Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and communicate trends to Area Senior Leadership Team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Desire to continuously improve systems and processes with an open mind towards change.
