**Salary:** $45,000 - $55,000 per year (estimated), based on industry standards and location.
**Job Description: Laboratory Assistant (Float)**
You will be responsible for processing blood samples and other laboratory specimens, entering requisitions and results accurately, and providing customer service to create a positive patient experience.
You will also be part of a dynamic team working in our Laboratory and Health Services Center locations in the Toronto area, Monday to Saturday, between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process blood samples and other laboratory specimens
- Enter requisitions and results accurately
- Provide customer service to create a positive patient experience
- Obtain quality blood samples using skillful venipuncture techniques
- Sort and steer specimens, perform ECGs, Holter Hookups, paternity tests, urine, drug, and breath alcohol collections
- Ensure specimens and supporting documentation are completed as required
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Completed Secondary School and a Laboratory Assistant training program or a Medical Lab Assistance course with specialized training in phlebotomy
- Customer-focused with a genuine care for patients' health
- Skilled in phlebotomy, with the ability to manage anxious patients
- Prioritize and self-manage within a deadline-oriented environment
- Extremely detail-oriented
