Gallagher is a leading provider of risk management and insurance solutions. As a key member of our Surety team, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional customer service to our clients.

Your Role

As the Construction Bond Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting surety bond applications, evaluating financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant documents to assess risk and determine bond eligibility. You will also work with clients, brokers, and internal teams to gather vital information and documentation for bond issuance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and analyze contract documents, including bid bonds, performance bonds, and payment bonds and contract maintenance bonds to ensure compliance with established guidelines and regulations
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments to identify potential issues and mitigate risks associated with surety bonds
  • Monitor and manage existing surety bond portfolios, including reviewing financial statements, assessing bond performance, and identifying potential claims
  • Investigate and process surety bond claims, including reviewing claim documentation, conducting investigations, and negotiating settlements

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in surety bond underwriting and risk assessment
  • Strong knowledge of surety bond regulations, industry standards, and best practices
  • Good knowledge of markets and their policy wordings
  • Knowledge of Carrier Portals an asset and EPIC an asset
  • Proficient in using computer software and applications, including MS Office Suite and surety bond management systems (Erlon)

We offer a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including flexible medical & dental coverage, life insurance options, retirement savings, and employee stock purchase plan.
