Casual Food and Hospitality Services Assistant

University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Food and Hospitality Services Assistant. This role will provide administrative support at Steckley Hall front desk, general hospitality services, and support services at events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative duties at Steckley Hall front desk, including responding to inquiries and resolving issues.
  • Assist with banquets and other large-scale functions, including setting up and tearing down tables and table settings.
  • Maintain the food services areas, including cleaning, warewashing, and stocking supplies.
  • Serve clients and operate the point-of-sale system while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Prepare and assemble salads, desserts, dressings, and special menu items, as well as cook pasta, potatoes, eggs, and stir-fry food.
  • Maintain all food items at proper temperatures and respond to client requests for service, special diets, and other information in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, including sweeping, scrubbing, cleaning tables, countertops, washing dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.

Requirements:

  • Completion of Secondary School and one year of experience in food services, including familiarity with specialized cooking equipment and point-of-sale systems.
  • WHMIS, Food Handlers Certificate, and First Aid required.
  • Knife handling, customer service skills, and knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment required.

Hourly Rate: $18.11 - $20.22 per hour
