Casual Food and Hospitality Services Assistant

University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Food and Hospitality Services Assistant. This role will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, preparing and serving food, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support at the Steckley Hall front desk, including greeting guests and responding to inquiries.
  • Assist with banquets and large-scale events, including setting up and tearing down tables and table settings.
  • Maintain the food services areas, including cleaning, warewashing, and stocking supplies.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system and provide exceptional customer service to all guests.
  • Prepare and assemble salads, desserts, dressings, and special menu items, as well as cook pasta, potatoes, eggs, and stir-fry food.
  • Maintain all food items at proper temperatures and respond to client requests for service and special diets.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, including sweeping, scrubbing, and cleaning tables and countertops.

Requirements:

  • Completion of Secondary School and one year of experience in a related field.
  • WHMIS, Food Handlers Certificate, and First Aid required.
  • Knife handling, customer service skills, and knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment required.

Hourly Rate: $18.11 - $20.22 per hour
