About the Role:

Sony Pictures Imageworks is seeking a highly skilled Character FX Artist to join our team. As a Character FX Artist, you will be responsible for creating set-ups, models, and animating assigned character external features such as hair, fur, and cloth to meet art direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creates set-ups, models, and animates assigned character external features such as hair, fur, and cloth to meet art direction.
  • Accountable for meeting productivity and quota targets.
  • Participates in writing utility scripts and software code that streamlines the simulation development process.
  • Interact with production, supervisors, and team/peers in order to problem solve and share information related to show/assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to decipher as well as follow through on shot turnovers, dailies, briefings/notes, and feedback.

Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant software including Maya, Linux, UNIX, and scripting ability in relevant languages including MEL, Perl, and Python highly desirable.
  • Most desired 2-year diploma or 1-year certificate; however, minimal requirement of 2-3 years of relevant experience may be accepted.

What We Offer:

  • Anticipated base salary for an Associate position is $26.44 to $36.32/hr and for an Intermediate position is $53.80/hr.
  • Benefits include healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSP's, Sick and Vacation leave, standard increases as applicable.
