Packer Operator Job Description

Morgan Construction and Environmental (Ltd.) is seeking a skilled Packer Operator to join our team in the dynamic world of heavy civil construction. As a Packer Operator, you will play a crucial role in safely compacting materials on construction sites, ensuring the quality and efficiency of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate a smooth drum or sheeps foot packer to compact materials on construction sites.
  • Pack materials to the required specifications, ensuring a smooth and even surface.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure efficient operations.
  • Support ground crew as required, and champion our safety culture by adhering to Morgan's Safe Work Procedures and PPE policies.
  • Adhere to project specifications and guidelines to maintain quality standards.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience operating a smooth drum or sheeps foot packer.
  • Proven experience as a Packer Operator in the heavy civil earthworks, construction, mining, or oilfield maintenance services industry.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Must have (or be willing and able to obtain) CSTS-09, OSSA Regional or BSO or CSO, Intermediate First Aid, H2S Alive or Awareness, Bear Awareness (in class).
  • Provide your own steel-toed 6" lace-up boots (CSA Approved).
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs repetitively and safely.
Working Conditions:
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including rain, shine, or snow.
  • Handle noise and vibrations on the job.
  • Work up to 12 hours a day, and be willing to work day or night shifts.
  • Work in remote areas, with accommodation provided.
