Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Packer Operator to join our team. As a Packer Operator, you will play a crucial role in the dynamic world of heavy civil construction. You will be responsible for safely compacting materials on a construction site, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring the smooth operation of controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety First: Safely compact materials on a construction site, adhering to our Safe Work Procedures and PPE policies.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate heavy equipment, such as packers, to compact materials and ensure optimal functionality and safety.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with other team members to ensure efficient operations and support ground crew as required.
  • Quality Control: Adhere to project specifications and guidelines to maintain quality standards.
  • Problem-Solving: Showcase your exceptional judgment and problem-solving skills to overcome challenges on the job site.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent experience operating a smooth drum or sheeps foot packer.
  • Industry Knowledge: Proven experience as a packer operator in the heavy civil earthworks, construction, mining, or oilfield maintenance services industry.
  • Safety Certifications: Must have (or be willing and able to obtain) CSTS-09, OSSA Regional or BSO or CSO, Intermediate First Aid, H2S Alive or Awareness, Bear Awareness (in class).
  • Physical Demands: Able to lift up to 50lbs repetitively and safely.
Working Conditions
  • Outdoor Work: Embrace the elements by working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Noise and Vibration: Expect to handle noise and vibrations on the job.
  • Long Hours: Must be able to work up to 12 hours a day.
  • Shift Work: Must be able to work day or night shifts.
