Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse to work in our Emergency Department at Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary clinical framework to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions for patients in the Emergency Department
• Participate in discharge and/or care planning, and function as a patient advocate
• Teach patients and their families about illness/injury and overall health promotion and wellness
• Enhance quality of life from the perspective of the patient/family
• Establish, maintain, and enhance therapeutic relationships based on respect

Qualifications:
• Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses and one (1) year recent experience working in a related area of care
• Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to perform nursing assessments and interventions related to common diagnoses and specific clinical situations relevant to the designated patient group
• Ability to make sound clinical judgments to provide safe ethical patient care to manage a select population of patients
• Ability to recognize potential complications and care issues relevant to the designated patient group by alerting the RN and/or most responsible provider
• Ability to effectively manage conflict situations and aggressive behavior and use non-violent crisis intervention, behavioral management techniques, and processes specific to the Emergency Department to mitigate violence in collaboration with the healthcare team
• Ability to document patient care on appropriate systems/forms in accordance with organizational and unit standards in a timely and accurate manner
