Licensed Practical Nurse

We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Operating Room department at Fort St. John Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
Working within an interdisciplinary clinical framework, the LPN will work closely with the care team in direct care activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating interventions, and coordinating health services for Emergency Department patients. Participates in discharge and/or care planning, functions as a patient advocate, and teaches patients and their families about illness/injury and overall health promotion and wellness. Enhances quality of life from the perspective of the patient/family. Establishes, maintains, and enhances therapeutic relationships based on respect. Under a team-based model, provides care to patients across the lifespan, and their families, based on stable and/or predictable states of health by initiating and following established plans of care. Recognizes and responds to unexpected patient outcomes by communicating and collaborating with other members of the healthcare team. Documents care provided and response to incidents in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Emergency Department expectations. Consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers as needed.
Education and Training
The American Operating Room Nurse's (AORN) Periop-101 course is a blended learning program that delivers standardized education on the foundational skills of perioperative nursing. The program includes a 7-week course using a blended learning approach and a practicum paired with a preceptor to consolidate skills. The course and practicum will prepare nurses to provide safe and competent perioperative nursing care at a novice level.

Requirements
Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses and one (1) year recent experience working in a related area of care. Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
