Job Summary:
York University is seeking part-time Custodians to join our team of skilled professionals. As a Custodian, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our campus facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general cleaning duties in public areas, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting.
- Sanitize public washrooms and restrooms.
- Operate and maintain custodial equipment, such as polishers and vacuum cleaners.
- Remove trash and recyclables from classrooms, computer labs, and hallways.
- Reconfigure furniture in classrooms and lecture halls.
- Wipe down surfaces, including whiteboards and chalkboards.
- Maintain the cleanliness of glass partitions, entrance glasses, and elevator walls.
- Respond to spills and floods in a timely manner.
- Remove posters and other materials from walls and surfaces.
- Operate auto scrubbers to clean corridors.
- Clean main stairwells and other high-traffic areas.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Ability to operate and maintain custodial equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
