Job Description

Smartkarma is seeking a senior analyst or analyst team to build ongoing research coverage of all US IPOs and direct listings with an expected deal size of $100 million or higher, excluding closed-end funds and SPACs.

Research coverage will entail:

  • Data-Driven Methodology: Develop a scoring and ranking system to evaluate deals
  • Pre-IPO Company Analysis: Create comprehensive tearsheets for pre-IPO companies
  • Pre-IPO Fundamental Research: Conduct in-depth research on pre-IPO companies, including financial analysis and market trends
  • Pre-IPO Valuation and Pricing Insights: Provide expert analysis on pre-IPO valuations and pricing
  • Post-IPO Trading Summary: Analyze post-IPO trading performance and provide insights
  • Post-IPO Lock-Up Expiry Preview: Provide analysis on post-IPO lock-up expiry trades

Within the first six months, the senior analyst or analyst team will also be expected to offer a high-touch service for select institutional clients covering:

  • Pre-Deal Services: Provide pre-positioning, market intelligence, and book color for institutional clients
  • Post-Deal Services: Offer lock-up expiry trades and analysis for institutional clients
  • Desk Access: Provide access to the team via email and messaging, as well as direct calls

Qualifications

  • Extensive research and/or investment experience for institutional clients (5+ years)
  • Demonstrated experience and network within US equity capital markets
  • Demonstrated ability to write research
