Teacher - Education Specialist

Welcome to Sxoxomic Community School, located 50 km southwest of Williams Lake in Alkali Lake, BC. We are a unique, student-centered learning environment that embraces Secwepemc values as the foundation for grades K4-9.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a qualified Teacher on Call to provide one-to-one support and/or small group reinforcement to students in all academic areas. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Principal or teacher and will be responsible for:
- Providing academic support to students in various subjects
- Developing and implementing individualized learning plans
- Collaborating with teachers and other staff members to ensure student success
- Communicating effectively with students, parents, and staff
- Managing classroom behavior and maintaining a positive learning environment
The ideal candidate will have:
- Successful experience working with students of Aboriginal ancestry
- Knowledge and understanding of the local Aboriginal culture and traditions
- Proven written and verbal communication skills, as well as exceptional time management and organizational skills
- Experience in Team Development
- Superior abilities in verbal and written communication
- A demonstrated interest in the success of all learners and a belief that proper interventions can result in greater opportunities
- The ability and willingness to listen to and follow directions for duties to be performed
- The ability to handle behavior concerns in a rational, equitable, and respectful manner
- The ability to work constructively as a team player as school programs are being developed
- Valid BC Driver's License (Class 5) or N
- Knowledge of First Nations Culture and working in a First Nations community is an asset
