About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Education Assistant to join our team at Sxoxomic Community School in Alkali Lake, BC. As a key member of our educational support team, you will work closely with our principal and teachers to provide individualized support to students in a dynamic and student-centered learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide educational assistance in learning activities for students, working one-on-one and in small groups
  • Assist with school supervision before and after school, and during recess and lunch breaks
  • Employ effective behavior management techniques to support students with diverse learning needs
  • Use adapted strategies and activities to accommodate individual learner needs and styles
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment
Requirements
  • Completion of a recognized Education Assistant course and/or an ECE trained worker
  • Experience working with groups of children in a school or educational setting
  • Training and experience in managing challenging behaviors
  • Ability to work in a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed manner
  • Valid BC Driver's License (Class 5) or N
