Job Summary

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and organized Commercial Insurance Assistant to join our team in Vancouver. As a key member of our Commercial division, you will be responsible for providing exceptional client service by supplying professional and accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist existing parties in the team by providing administrative support.
  • Work closely with the Client Service Manager and Client Executive(s) to ensure seamless client service.
  • Process correspondence, invoices, and other documentation as required.
  • Prepare certificate lists, issue certificates of insurance, and create abeyances as needed.
  • Update the renewal list and ensure all correspondence is accurate and timely.
  • Update information in our internal management system EPIC.

Accounting/Premium Finance

  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding client accounts receivables with the CSM.
  • Work with the Accounting Department and insurers to resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Organize and prepare premium financing as required.

Client/Insurer

  • Respond to client and underwriter inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Issue certificates of insurance and ensure the insurance program meets requirements.
  • Contact insurers to confirm coverage and amend as needed.
  • Advise clients of any discrepancies between the insurance program and requirements.

General

  • Familiarize yourself with BFL policies and procedures, including security and quality procedures.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties and special projects as required.
  • Assist teammates to fulfill excellent client service.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years Commercial insurance experience or relevant insurance education.
  • Level 2 license (insurance designation, CIP or CAIB preferred) or working towards.
  • Excellent communication skills, listening, verbal, and written.
  • Ability to work well independently and part of a team.
  • Professional and positive attitude and a desire to grow.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
