Job Description

We are seeking a talented Scriptwriter to join our team and contribute to the creation of engaging and immersive stories for our AAA games.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop compelling cinematic and narrative scenes that bring our game worlds to life.
  • Write item and quest log descriptions that expand the lore and depth of our games.
  • Research and write narrative elements to anchor a compelling narrative within an interactive story.
  • Write both scripted and systemic dialogue that resonates with our players.
  • Develop character arcs and story beats through dialogue and other narrative elements.
  • Revising and editing dialogue to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Provide feedback on dialogue and the story to ensure it meets our high standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as narrative design, audio, animation, level design, and AI, to ensure a cohesive and engaging player experience.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a passion for interactive storytelling and a background in games, film, TV, or theater.
  • Have a deep understanding of writing compelling stories in close collaboration with other disciplines to help create immersive worlds full of lore and exciting adventures.
  • Be able to work with good brief, meeting deadlines, and know constructive feedback, both when given and received in a dynamic and flexible environment.
  • Ability to follow an established style guide and rules of usage.
  • Ability to communicate complex narrative ideas to stakeholders from other disciplines.
  • Experience with a non-linear narrative, interactive, and/or branching storyline structure is preferred.
  • Strong copy-editing skills are essential.
  • 5+ years of proven experience crafting and developing stories, writing dialogue and various other content from concept to completion within a large production (Ideally larger scale stories, character pitches, and/or key quest or mission content for AAA games).
  • Experience working in a writers' room or similar collaborative environment.
  • Experience working on quest design with Level Designers is preferred.
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in video games, writing or other applicable area.
