About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Underwriter, Credit Insurance Specialist to join our Credit Insurance Underwriting team. As an Underwriter, you will play a critical role in helping our customers protect themselves against the risk of non-payment from foreign companies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external customers to understand their needs and determine optimal insurance coverage structures.
  • Assess the creditworthiness of foreign companies through in-depth financial and credit analysis, including liquidity analysis, leverage and maturity schedules, profitability, cash-flow management, and other factors.
  • Participate in developing loss mitigation strategies when allocated credits become at risk.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to streamline operations and improve process efficiency.
  • Identify problems and champion enhancements to existing processes to improve program results.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or other relevant discipline.
  • 2-5 years of experience in insurance underwriting or related financial services experience.
  • Solid experience reading and interpreting financial statements with strong financial analysis skills.
  • Experience structuring and negotiating complex insurance coverage structures.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a matrix environment.

Assets

  • International and/or commercial banking experience.
  • MBA, CFA, or CPA designation.
  • Working knowledge of insurance underwriting principles and practices.
  • Advanced Excel skills.

Salary Range

Salaries are based on qualifications and experience, with a range of $62,336 - $108,017 per year, plus performance-based incentives.
