About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Assistant to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As an active member of the patient care team, you will work collaboratively with therapists, individuals, families, and groups to promote movement, occupation, and function.

Under the direction of the Manager, you will be responsible for the safe and proficient delivery of interventions assigned by therapists for patients coping with limitations in movement and daily function. Your duties will include checking and cleaning equipment, maintaining treatment and storage areas, and ordering necessary supplies.

The successful applicant may be required to provide services anywhere within the Rehabilitation Services portfolio.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or GED
  • Rehabilitation Assistant Program (including Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy components)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, families, and staff
  • Good interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with team members
  • Organizational ability to complete assigned work and manage changing staffing and caseload levels
  • Knowledge of proper body mechanics
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Access to reliable transportation
Hours and Compensation

This is a long-assignment, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The hourly rate is $25.95.
