Steam Power Plant Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Steam Power Plant Operations Specialist to join our team at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).
About the JobThis is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the steam power plant and pressure vessels equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Establish priorities and requirements for preventative maintenance plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Estimate labor and materials for renovations, upgrades, and projects, including reviewing project drawings and specifications.
- Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including contractors and external agencies, to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Stay current with advances in system and equipment design, technology, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare detailed estimates, drawings, and layouts for internal projects and work required.
- Maintain accurate records, charts, logs, and manuals as required by regulatory bodies.
- Provide input to projects, making recommendations to improve existing systems and processes.
- A valid Third Class Interprovincial Power Engineering certificate (Journey person status) and relevant technical education and certifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to maintain top-quality customer service standards.
- Ability to assess blueprints and make recommendations for specific trade requirements.
- Basic computer training and experience, with a willingness to learn on the job.
The salary for this position is estimated to be around $41.00 per hour, based on industry standards and the location of BCIT.
