We are seeking a highly skilled Health Care Specialist Educator to join our team at ABM College. As an Instructor, you will play a critical role in shaping the academic success of our students and the program as a whole.

Job Overview

This is a full-time, part-time, or permanent position that requires teaching clinical skills to students and evaluating their performance in a timely manner. The successful candidate will have experience working with older adults with complex health needs and be familiar with policies and procedures within residential and community care settings.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver instruction that meets course competencies and program objectives as set out in the curriculum.
  • Evaluate student performance in a timely and fair manner.
  • Enhance the program by leveraging industry contacts for the benefit of students' practical training and employment.
  • Develop and implement effective lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire students. They should also be able to work cooperatively with other instructors and staff to ensure seamless delivery of the program.

Requirements
  • Current unrestricted registration as a licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, or registered psychiatric nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners through completion of the Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent education/experience.
  • Two or more years of full-time Canadian nursing experience with relevant knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system.
  • Evidence of completion of Indigenous cultural safety and humility training.

A bachelor's degree in a Health or Human Services field may be considered an asset for the Interpersonal Communications course.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High standards of behavior and professionalism.

The salary range for this position is $35.00 per hour, with 30 hours of work expected per week. Work will be conducted Monday to Friday in-person. We offer a supportive and dynamic work environment with opportunities for professional growth and development.
