Job Summary

To provide high-quality patient care as a member of an interdisciplinary team on an acute medical/surgical unit. The ideal candidate will possess strong assessment skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, and implement care for patients on the medical/surgical unit.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.

Requirements

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BCLS certification required at time of hire.
  • Recent general medicine and/or surgical experience preferred.
  • Strong assessment skills, reliable, flexible, self-directed professional able to work effectively and collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Sound patient care nursing skills combined with effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will be a strong advocate for patient-centered care in a dynamic and evolving patient care environment. They will be able to actively engage in change and redefining this patient care unit. We require a person with good communication skills who can foster teamwork and collaboration.

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with rotating shifts, including days, evenings, and nights. They will be required to work effectively in a team environment and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
