Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage Estimator and Project Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for estimating project costs related to low voltage systems, including structured cabling, security, access control, audio-visual, and other related systems.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical or communications fields, with a minimum of 10 years of direct work experience. They will also possess excellent negotiation and consulting skills, as well as experience working with various types of construction and telecommunications projects drawings and blueprints.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimate project costs related to low voltage systems, including structured cabling, security, access control, audio-visual, and other related systems.
- Provide support to the management and operations team, including conducting site assessments and providing detailed intelligence on site-specific requirements.
- Analyze blueprints to determine wire lengths and suitable outlet needs based on telecommunications standards requirements.
- Determine the amount, type, and cost of materials, including racking, power distribution needs, and UPS requirements.
- Determine the amount of labor required to complete each project.
- Collaborate with all other departments and divisions to optimize efficiency and ensure project estimates are feasible and attainable.
- Establish relationships and consistent communication with distributors to create excellent price structures on multiple material line-ups.
- Consistent and thorough communication with trade clientele to establish best relationship practices for closing bid work.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of direct work experience in the Electrical or Communications Field.
- Minimum 5 years of in-field hands-on experience.
- Strong experience and fluency working with various types of construction and telecommunications projects drawings and blueprints.
- Fluent English language written and verbal skills.
- Excellent negotiation and consulting skills.
- Experience with estimating software such as Accubid and Bluebeam is an asset.
- Possess a valid Alberta Class 5 Operators License with a clean driving abstract.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer competitive wages, company-paid benefits, company RRSP matching, up to 5 additional paid days off for Years of Service, manufacturer-provided training, and opportunities for advancement and growth within the company.
