Morrison Hershfield, a leading consulting engineering firm in the US and Canada, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Inspector to join our transportation team in the Greater Toronto area.

Job Summary

We are looking for a talented professional with a post-secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology/Technician to fill this key role. As a Senior Inspector, you will play a lead role in the delivery of environmental assessment and functional/preliminary and detail design assignments primarily for public sector clients.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct site surveys, confirming scope of work, obtaining relevant information, equipment, and materials, and maintaining quality and payment records in a daily diary for the work completed.
  • Compile field/test data in a report form for review by the Contract Administrator.
  • Liaise/coordinate with service providers for specialized inspections and/or testing to ensure tasks are completed in accordance with the terms or reference, specifications, or agreement.
  • Attend site meetings as required.
  • Obtain video/photographic records as required.
  • Record, review, and address contractor questions and clarifications by reporting to the Contract Administrator for resolution if not already provided to the contractor.
  • Able to handle multiple priorities without losing focus.
Requirements
  • A Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology/Technician.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in engineering/construction.
  • Prior experience inspecting transportation structures and working on bridges, culverts, and/or retaining walls.
  • Either registration as a Technician or Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T. or Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with PEO.
  • Designation as determined by O.A.C.E.T.T. as a Road Construction Senior Inspector (rcsi) is an asset.
  • Able to work overtime, on weekends, and nights, as required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office an asset.
  • A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle is required.
