Job Summary:

The Culinary Specialist is responsible for preparing and cooking meals for palliative care patients at Sakura House. This role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure high-quality food service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare meals in accordance with approved menus and nutritional guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Order and receive ingredients and supplies.
  • Assist with inventory control and disposal procedures.
  • Report equipment and area maintenance needs to the maintenance department.
  • Ensure kitchen appearance meets established standards for cleanliness and organization.
  • Communicate problems and concerns with food service to management.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year of experience in food preparation in hospitality or healthcare industry.
  • Food Handler's Certificate preferred.
  • Ability to read, prepare, and plan menus.
  • Ability to prepare meals within time deadlines.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

  • Fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Lift and carry using appropriate lifting techniques.
  • Bend, push, pull, grip, reach, kneel, crouch using good body mechanics.
  • Walk, sit, stand, climb stairs.
  • Fine hand movements.
