Culinary Specialist

Job Summary:
The Culinary Specialist is responsible for preparing and cooking meals for palliative care patients at Sakura House. This role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure high-quality food service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare meals in accordance with approved menus and nutritional guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Order and receive ingredients and supplies.
- Assist with inventory control and disposal procedures.
- Report equipment and area maintenance needs to the maintenance department.
- Ensure kitchen appearance meets established standards for cleanliness and organization.
- Communicate effectively with clients, staff, and volunteers.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one year of experience in food preparation in hospitality or healthcare industry.
- Food Handler's Certificate preferred.
- Ability to read, prepare, and plan menus.
- Ability to prepare meals within time deadlines.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
- Fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail.
- Lift and carry using appropriate lifting techniques.
- Bend, push, pull, grip, reach, kneel, crouch using good body mechanics.
- Walk, sit, stand, climb stairs.
- Fine hand movements.
