Director, Public Sector Solutions-Justice

KPMG in Canada is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Justice & Security cluster. This strategic, high-profile role will unite our Justice & Security and Government national practices to create a coordinated strategy.
Target clients for this cluster include:
- Municipalities
- Police
- Ontario Government Ministries responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and planning Justice & Security
- Regulatory government bodies
As a Director at KPMG, you will bring prior consulting experience with government and broader sector organizations. You will understand and be intimately familiar with Canadian governments at the federal, provincial, and municipal level as it relates to this cluster. This experience and exposure span the strategy and operations of government, including program/policy development, implementation, and evaluation, as well as the downstream entities involved (courts, police services) and/or stakeholders impacted (police, prosecutors, judges).
This role is about sales, delivery, and practice development. You will support the identification, marketing, and support of winning the trust of clients resulting in sold work; lead a team of high performers, maintain strong client relations, and shape the deliverable of outstanding work products; and create followership and support recruiting, marketing, and practice administration as required.
Requirements
Justice & Security Sector / Management Consulting Experience:
- A seasoned professional, with 12-15+ years of comparable experience in consulting
- Hands-on Justice & Security sector experience, with strong relationships with Director and/or Executive-level contacts, and with a solid understanding of key trends in the sector locally and nationally
- Ability to operate effectively, be a self-starter/adaptable, and mature the practice amid ambiguity, changing market conditions, and rapid change
- Experience working with police boards, federal, provincial, and municipal police services, and governments to identify opportunities that maximize resources through intelligence-led systems, increasing financial return across all forms of service delivery, and employing new, innovative, design-led technological approaches to protect public safety
- Sound knowledge of the Acts, Regulations, Rules, regulatory frameworks, and standards, and relevant policy and procedures, and ability to interpret and apply to justice & security transformation considerations and initiatives
- Experience with Strategy, Planning, Analytics, and Performance, including operational and strategic plan reporting, management information services, modeling, research, and analysis
- Experience in creating business cases/proposals for structural change, technology improvements, and business process re-engineering, including new ways of undertaking existing functions
- Comfortable working at both the conceptual and the hands-on level with big picture thinking and growth-oriented leadership skills
- Demonstrated experience working with data, inferring insights from data, and briefing senior leaders on insights and recommendations
- Experience with financial analysis, data modeling, securing expense efficiencies, and/or process mapping/re-engineering
- Demonstrated interest in working with and building relationships within the government and social justice sectors
- Commitment to support proposals and/or lead efforts to secure new business/market opportunities
- Excellent skills and experience in project execution, including leading day-to-day delivery, team management, client relationship management, and managing project schedule, risks, and timelines
- University degree in law-related studies, social justice, education, or other related sector
- Ability to cultivate relationships at management and executive levels, both internally and externally, including to drive business development initiatives
- Ability to succeed in both team-based and independent environments
- Excellent leadership and collaboration skills, including ability to lead a dedicated team and collaborating with complementary teams (such as technology and technology vendor alliance teams) towards achieving common goals
- Ability to navigate a multi-stakeholder environment and senior levels with the ability to build and foster long-term relationships with our clients
