We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Clerk to join our Quartermaster Stores Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing purchasing functions, maintaining inventory levels, and providing administrative support.
Key Responsibilities- Perform purchasing functions, including developing specifications for Requests for Quotations/Tenders and evaluating quotations/tenders.
- Maintain inventory stock levels by monitoring and forecasting stock needs and placing approved orders.
- Monitor and liaise with vendors, Region of Peel Purchasing, Senior Officers/Managers, and other members concerning orders and stock.
- Coordinate the return of damaged or broken items for warranty replacement.
- Review and follow-up on minimum stock order levels and back-ordered goods.
- Assist in the research and development of specifications, new items, and specialized requirements.
- Provide administrative and special knowledge support to the Uniform and Equipment Standards Committee as required.
- Issue uniforms and equipment to applicable uniform and civilian members at the counter.
- Verify orders for shipping and receiving.
- Maintain an up-to-date and accurate filing system.
- A High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience, plus additional courses in purchasing, office administration.
- A minimum of one year demonstrated experience in purchasing principles, including the Request for Quotation and Tender processes required.
- Working knowledge of computerized inventory systems preferred.
- MS Word-Basic.
- MS Excel-Basic.
- MS Outlook.
- Well-developed keyboarding and data entry skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform all activities.
The salary range for this permanent, full-time position is $48, $76,301.00 per annum, complemented by a comprehensive benefit program, including employer-paid Health/Dental and Life Insurance after a six (6) month waiting period, and the OMERS Pension Plan.
