About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Property Underwriter II to join our team at Heartland Farm Mutual Inc. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading insurance company and contribute to the success of our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite new business, renewals, and endorsements according to established underwriting guidelines and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement effective solutions for moderately complex underwriting problems, ensuring accurate and timely decision-making.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Respond to broker requests and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Apply sound underwriting judgment to rate and price complex commercial risks, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in production calls with agents and brokerage offices, as required, to discuss underwriting decisions and provide guidance.
  • Stay up-to-date with all company and industry underwriting policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring ongoing professional development.
  • Provide expert underwriting support and training to internal staff, agents, and brokers, enhancing their knowledge and skills.
  • Conduct individual commercial policy and portfolio audits, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Assist in market research and product development activities, contributing to the growth and success of our business.
Requirements
  • 3 years of experience in property and casualty insurance underwriting, with a strong understanding of industry standards and best practices.
  • CIP and/or post-secondary education or university degree with partial completion of CIP designation is preferred.
  • FCIP or CRM is preferred, but not required.
