Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our Home Oxygen Program team at George Pearson Centre in Vancouver, BC.
Key Responsibilities- Assess clients and their oxygen systems in various settings, including homes, clinics, and community settings.
- Provide ongoing respiratory care to clients with various illnesses and diseases, including acute and chronic respiratory conditions.
- Enhance the quality of life for clients and their families.
- Liaise with internal and external partners to implement care and therapies for clients, including home oxygen equipment.
- Stay up-to-date with best practices and continuous improvement in respiratory care.
- Maintain and advance clinical competence.
- Participate in committees, teams, and research projects as assigned.
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.
- Successful completion of the Health Professionals Testing Canada (HPTC) Credentialing Exam.
- Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists and BC Society of Respiratory Therapists.
- Valid driver's license for local area travel.
- Broad knowledge of The National Alliance of Respiratory Therapy Regulatory Bodies (NARTRB) National Competency Framework.
- Knowledge of current respiratory care theory and practices within a client-centered model of care.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Adaptability to the changing health system and understanding of the broad determinants of health.
- Ability to assess client responses to care and respond appropriately.
- Ability to establish workload priorities and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in the use of respiratory and other equipment and techniques.
- Knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
- Ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
- Ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in various settings and with diverse populations.
- Computer literacy and ability to use common computer applications.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
