Job Title: Water Treatment Plant Process Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water Treatment Plant Process Technician to join our team at 1823 Consulting Inc.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining water treatment plant systems, including disinfection, oxidation, and pumping systems. They will also be responsible for reading blueprints, taking physico-chemical measurements, and analyzing test results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain water treatment plant systems, including disinfection, oxidation, and pumping systems.
  • Read blueprints and technical documents to determine work requirements.
  • Take physico-chemical measurements on water and sludge samples.
  • Analyze test results and instrument readings to ensure plant systems are operating normally.
  • Collect and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content.
  • Complete and maintain plant logs and reports.
  • Help with the installation, assembly, and repairs to equipment.
  • Make adjustments to plant equipment and systems as needed.
  • Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect malfunctioning and ensure normal operation.
  • Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment to regulate water treatment and distribution.
  • Patrol plant to check pumps, motors, filters, chlorinators, and other plant equipment.
  • Respond to customer complaints on water quality problems.
  • Transport and mix chemicals, and operate equipment used to unload chemicals.
Requirements:
  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1-2 years.
  • 5 years or more of experience in water treatment plant operations.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, hot environments, and outdoors.
  • Ability to lift heavy loads and work in noisy environments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
