Job Title: Water Treatment Plant Process Technician

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Treatment Plant Process Technician to join our team at 1823 Consulting Inc. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of water treatment processes and a commitment to ensuring the highest quality of water for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain water treatment plant equipment, including disinfection systems, oxidation systems, and pumping systems.
  • Read blueprints and technical documents to determine work requirements and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Take physico-chemical measurements on water and sludge to monitor treatment processes.
  • Analyze test results and instrument readings to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collect and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content to ensure water quality meets regulatory standards.
  • Complete and maintain plant logs and reports to track treatment processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Help with the installation, assembly, and repair of equipment, and make adjustments to plant equipment and systems as needed.
  • Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctioning and ensure plant systems are operating normally.
  • Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment to regulate the treatment and distribution of water.
  • Patrol plant to check pumps, motors, filters, chlorinators, and other plant equipment.
  • Respond to customer complaints on water quality problems and provide solutions to resolve issues.
  • Transport and mix chemicals, and operate equipment used to unload chemicals.

Requirements

  • 5 years or more of experience in water treatment plant operations.
  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Attention to detail, combination of sitting, standing, walking, handling heavy loads, overtime required, repetitive tasks.
  • Efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, flexibility, judgement, organized, reliability, team player.
